Обзор

In this book we have collected information about magnetic prospecting of archaeological sites. We have based most of our examples on the use of the Overhauser magnetometer-gradiometer GEM-19WG from GEM Systems. Our aim has not been to give a full explanation of neither the physical principles of the method nor of the magnetometers; rather, we have collected references from books and articles where the reader can find detailed information. We have concentrated mostly on practical aspects of magnetic survey for the investigation af archaeological sites situated in different geographical and geological conditions. Therefore, we have submitted as many examples from our field work as possible.
