The edition comprises the materials of the most recent archaeological studies of the site of dismantled Building 14 in the Moscow Kremlin, thus making public the outcomes of a two-year-long project led by the Institute of Archaeology Russian Academy of Sciences. The excavation revealed the remains of residential housing (12th to 14th century) and of the Chudov monastery’s cemetery (15th to 17th century). A lot of materials in archaeology and natural science have been collected, processed and studied, with the outcomes appearing in this book. It also features unique photographs and sketches of old artifacts, hypotheses and visual reconstructions. All of these for the first time present a comprehensive architectural history of the eastern part of the Moscow Kremlin.
